I know the front is damaged but is it worth getting repaired and also how much in anyone’s guess ?
    Many thanks

As a collectable it is not worth more than maybe £200 given the state of the dial and the replacement crown. That dial can't be cleaned as you would lose all the markings along with the dirt. But you can get it serviced and wear it, cost at a guess c. £150 if the movement doesn't need major surgery.

I think that the true value in the watch is that it belonged to your father. Reparing will cost some money as Edward mentioned, but it will last forever if you take care of it.
Just to add, the dial can also be replaced if you find it unattractive. They show up every now and then on Ebay but even just changing the crystal during the service will improve the look a lot.

Personally, I don’t think that the dial looks bad. All the writing is there and patina is just the part of you fathers journey with this watch.

    Good luck!

I would just get a new crystal (scratched from the blurry photo) while having it serviced and wear it. That's your father's watch. It looks nice.

I'd replace the crystal and have it serviced (no polishing, redialing etc...) and wear it and think of your dad.
