Does anyone have comments on this watch. It is a st 105012-66. Sold in july 1967. The serial number is 249xxxxx/ Single step back case, with a 1039 band. However, I put a leather band on it. I have seen prices going sky high over the last years. The watch is unpolished. I bought it years ago from the son of the former owner. I had spent 20 years in a safe. The son had it wounded every month because he was told to do so.....

Is the bezel going brown, or is that just the lighting?

Please allow me to be the first to say "nice watch!" and, even more importantly, "Dibs!" (a '66 Speedy is my grail. ...or at least one of them)

Looks very nice, do you have any more photos? Correct wide and short pushers, serial in the correct range, nice DON bezel, nice lume discoloration on the dial markers, are the center hands original? They are the correct style and look very, very clean for 50 years old. Either way, a very valuable watch right now.

Here is another picture where you can see the proper color of the bezel.

Does anyone know if this is a CB or a HF? And which one is more valuable?

The CB cased examples sell for a premium today, it appears that yours is an HF to me. However I don't personally own either one, so I'm not the best to answer your question. If it is a CB, then the facets have been polished away over the years. The inside of the caseback will tell you for sure.

Thanks. The watch has never been polished and is almost unworn. I have worn it only a couple of times because shortly after this watch I bought a 1980 speedy and thought it would be better to keep the 321 in the box... Now, years later, I realize that has been a very good decision...

I'm leaning towards this being a polished CB, as most of the CBs I've seen have the wide-spaced Ts while most of the HFs I've seen have had the narrow-spaced Ts. This is not at all a rule, just a theory about your particular watch.

-66 HFs are rarer than CBs, but CBs appear to trade at a slight premium

But! It certainly doesn't look overpolished? The seahoarse is in amazing shape and edges seem crisp.
If anything, hands seem replaced or repainted. Either way a great looking watch IMO..

This is true. And I'm fairly certain I have seen a wide-spaced T dial on an HF before so it may indeed be one. And, as you say - it's very nice either way!

I would agree with the prevalence of "wide Ts" on the CBs. But looking at the shape of the polished lyre twist and the undersides of the lug ends has me thinking its a '66HF. A side profile shot would most likely clear things up.

Nice watch though, hands are very clean, so clean that I'm suspicious :cautious:.

EDIT: Zooming in on the under lugs seems to show the small triangles that I believe are traits of a CB. Hmmm....now going to grab my CB to compare......

I am pretty sure it has never been serviced and the hands are the originals. The son of the owner told me that it has in a safe for the last 20 years and I also kept it in the dark for the last 8 years or so.

Question solved: I have opened the case. It is a HF. I will post some extra pictures. One of these pictures shows that the hands are bit less white. It is my impression that the hands have not been replaced. Any comments on how rare the watch is and what it would be worth? Please keep in mind that I am not selling this watch.
