This is coming up for auction

    http://www.bruun-rasmussen.dk/search.do?pg=2&iid=300879946&cid=37659&mode=detail

I was wondering if the only thing that identifying an Ultraman is the serial number range and of course the red hand? This one is in the range and sold in Denmark, but did they know the about a Japanese tv show in Denmark, or were they just sold around the world in this Ultraman version and not just in Japan? I guess there is no way to confirm in the Omega archives that it left the factory as an Ultraman.

I dont want to buy this watch, the question is when this or any auctionhouse/seller claim it to be an Ultraman is there anyway to be sure for a buyer?

Sold last night for DKK 65.000 + 30 % fees for a total of DKK 84.500 or just about $12.100.

That's quite a premium over a regular 145.012 in that condition.

I don't think you can be 100 % sure, but the movement number (26.079.137) falls into the small range of known Ultramans, said to be between 26.076.XXX and 26.079.XXX - if you believe they left the factory like this and that the Ultraman therefore is an official Speedmaster variant.

It was discussed here - and here where member speedy4ever confirms that his database puts alle the known specimens in this range.

I personally think the Ultraman is a correct variant as we have seen quite a few now and especially because of this article where the Omega Museum Manager, Mr. Petros Protopapas, says:
Also, I find it interesting that the Ultraman just sold - according to the auction description - has a transcript of the archives that says it was delivered to a Danish dealer, while the Omegaforums discussion I linked to above has two examples of transcrips where the Ultraman was delivered to the United States. Seems that it was not just delivered to Japan as some believe.

Technically, the Gubira would need to be a diver.
