Another Longines 13ZN at Phillips

    Another refinished 13ZN dial at Phillips. I first saw this watch on the Instagram page of Classicwatch.com about 8 months ago. The typeface of the signature and "Anti Magnetique" are wildly different than those found on original examples from the period. The sub-dials are also not quite right. The estimate for this watch, lot 839, is $30,000 - 50,000.

    A very coarse redial indeed. SHAME on them; that's a very easy one to spot. Longines seems to be one of the biggest minefield for auctioneers and buyers. Maybe their dials were not as resistant to the passing of time as other watchmakers and more have been redialed as a result.

    Adding this information for posterity. Serial is 6'877'717, order number is 23'001, invoiced to USA September 7, 1945.
