I decided to pare down my collection some after receiving the Sky Dweller. Two watches I felt were redundant and weren't getting any wrist time were my 16700 GMT and my DJII Blue Stick with Fluted Bezel. So for those plus some cash to me I ended up with what I consider to be my favorite Rolex dive watch, the 116600 Sea Dweller. Received this past Saturday...
Thanks!!! It is more traditional in proportions then the other modern ceramic dive watches being made by Rolex. It was only sold for about three years so it is a relatively low volume model. It of course also has the Sea Dweller curse of costing more than the Subs but I like if more. It lack the flash of the Subs which is a good thing imho. More tool watch than jewel watch.
It is an excellent dilemma to face! Too many watches and not enough wrists. Great looking watch. I'm currently thinking about doing something similar and sending my 16700 to a new home to fund another yet-to-be decided watch.
116600 is a solid reference. Was a very unappriciated watch, produced for about 3 years so in relation to other professional watches, a very rare piece. This reference could do some crazy things in a few years. Enjoy it!! It is made to be worn!!
Recapp. 2014!!!!!! So only produced 3 years. Imagine the low quantity of total production... 100% sure this is a future collectors piece!
Thanks for all the wonderful comments on the watch. I love wearing it. Perhaps even more than the Sky Dweller. I'd wanted a Sea Dweller for a long time and this is definitely if for me.
