The program where we had been considering exemptions to the 200 post rule has recently ended. There are now no exemptions. 200 post are required, no exceptions. New members are encouraged to to hang around and contribute meaningful posts. With positive contributions the 200 post does not take long. While many given exemptions have added to the forums and proven themselves to be good commercial representatives , some have not. Policing those that did not work out was both distracting and time consuming. It also at times put some members at risk.
Please bear in mind, meaningful, means adding to discussions, not simple one word replies, described as. "Post Farming"
Previous exemptions remain in place.

The rules in the sales sections have been changed to reflect this policy.

Interesting, does this mean that anyone can post in the private sales section as I think this would lead to people joining just to sell watches?

I actually liked that you had to contribute to the forum in order to become part of the hobby before you could think of trading up as such.

Exception to having 200 posts... not removing the 200 post rule.

I agree 200 good posts usually proves a person's intent to be a good member. 👍

As I've observed on other watch sites, I have always been wary of sellers that ONLY sell without contributing. And as a new member here I have alot of catching up to do!

Hi
If your not sure about a seller , selling and no contributing to the community...

You can always look at a members threads....... just click on members name....

Then click on “ profile page “
And you will get the following page and then click on “POSTS”

After reading thru a page or two you can get a feeling if the seller is a contributor, how much of a contributor.... well can even do a “ stress test”... you can then only display threads that the member started.... scroll down to bottom of a posts page you can click on “FIND ALL THREADS BY .....”

Then you can see if you have a window full of ads or some ratio of both.... then you can do what you feel comfortable with.

See below...

ymmv

Hmm. I have 76 posts in exactly 12 months. I really should comment more often, rather than just soaking up information.
I have no plans to sell anything on this forum, but I really should get a move on in case I ever do.

idk, scammers could still lurk around and farm more-meaningful posts. I wish it was a requirement to have a handwritten username written on a piece of paper next to the watch being sold, similar to how Swappa deals with phone sales

Wow, this is a really historical announcement. I like the idea that you will be judged based on quality not quantity.

When does the Speedmaster "Tribute to 200 Posts" LE come out in celebration of this?
