Looking for a gold late 40's watch. Unless prices are wrong where I am looking this seems to low. Not super experienced on these but my limited info says good and not a redial.

Calling @Dre ... is this legit? Prices for gold case tend to hit higher figures. Plated lower price?

Aww, with the headline about an Angelia Chronodatonto I was hoping to see something funny.

BTW "Chronodatonto" sounds like a good name for one of those '80s gold IWCs

IMG_1445.JPG Definitively the font of the month wheel is off.
    Unless mine is off:eek:

I've seen a lot of variation on these. My concern was the month wheel. The red long distance marks overlaying the subdial seems normal.

I can't find 2 gold plated ones that match dials.

The red lines are at multiple of three minutes for measuring phone time and billing.

Why redial? The Chonodato overlap with the Angelus logo matches others, esp with the way the Logo is "masked" by the Chronodato name.

Inconsistent print . Red lines on minute counter. Looks too clean. Could be wrong.

And the movement looks more patinated than the dial.

Excellent point. How could the case back be perfect, a high wear location, and the chrono bridge be so worn on the inside of a watch? :cautious:

great point that seals it. Thanks! I am not sure the dial is a redial, but the caseback is definitely later judging on serial number. Yeah this watch a couple different ones added together.

At best a Franken. My guess is outright fake. I question the Angelus logo on the inside case back. Maybe somebody has pics to compare? Either way, it is a red flag (or black flag to tie into the F1 discussion).

It's a later Angelus caseback from another watch. Its not a fake but Frankenstein.

The dial is original but the watch itself seems to be a franken.

This is correct for many Angelus watches. The red lines go outside of the subdial.

However, the bridge has the wrong shape in my opinion:

Not my pic. Borrowed this from a listing here (sold last year) as I couldn't find a movement shot of mine.
It is a cal. 215. In the Chronodato is 217. But looks quite similar.

After some research I have found several watches with the bridge of the OP's watch. But not in a Chronodato. Thus, bridge is from Angelus but probably not from a Chronodato.
