Maybe the original looked pretty beat up but the restoration makes the watch totally undesirable to the serious vintage omega collector.

    From the Q & A:

Q: Do you have any of the original parts that were removed during restoration? Thank you
A: Yes. Omega sent back all the original parts and I will include them with the watch.

    How about dem edges?

    I totally agree, looks awful.

I see he is also including the bag of original parts that Omega returned after service..........there could be a few interesting bits and pieces in there ;)

How many perfectly good vintage cases have to die before people stop sending their watches to them?

Looking at the pictures, I see a fairly pretty (imho), OEM restored watch. Sure, it will not appeal to the serious collector, so it will probably not command serious collector money. For example one of the unrestored Railmasters pictured above went for just over $7.7k. It's not fake or franken, and the seller has disclosed that it's been restored. As far as I can see it's attracting a fair degree of bidding interest, so some people seem to like it. Good luck to them.

Neither of the two railmasters is restored??

Sorry - I took "never serviced by Omega look" as unrestored and my second sentence was referring to the Ebay listing in the OP. My mistake

It's very interesting to learn (at least for me, anyway) what an "official Omega-authorized" re-dial looks like...the triangles are blunted, the Omega symbol is simplified and the "Railmaster" script is larger than usual....the worst thing, of course is the lack of patina on the plots and the hands. At first, I did a double take thinking this was a time-capsule RM until I looked more closely at the dial. I can't remember the last vintage RM I'd seen with a restored dial...they don't come up very often.

    Why?....is this case over-polished?

By the way, I asked the seller what original parts are included and he sent me a photo...no dial unfortunately....just the mainspring, bezel, crown, and some other bits.

Ok, one more question....the listing describes the strap being 19mm, but doesn't the 2914 have 20mm lugs??

19mm is correct for these straight lug sportswatches including the sm300 and speedmaster.

yeah, I wonder about that. Did they Omega just strip and repaint the dial??...(ouch!!). Or did they just say they did and stick the original dial in "the vault".....?::stirthepot::

I've asked the seller whether he/she has photos of the dial before it went to Omega for restoration.

Pictures from listing added to the original post.

Oh, and :(. How is it that independents can clean up and even polish a case without dulling the edges, yet the factory can't?
