Dear Forum Friends,
today is our National Day here in Sweden, so why not celebrate it with a new watch!

This one is a bit of a riddle for me...

I have done my research on it, and I actually had a hard time (for once…)
The auction house didn't dare open up the watch, so I could not see the reference or the movement.
I had to search around and try to nail it down based on the few pictures I had from the auction house,
and with the info that I found.
My watchmaker is on a vacation, so I have to wait until he is back to get everything checked out.

But could it be a 2892, with the 284 movement?
And from the 1950´s?
And here is one of the questions, some that I have found have Seamaster on the dial,
and some dont have it….I wonder why?

Most of the ones I found here on the Forum and on the web have often numbers (3, 6, 9 and 12),
but this one does not have them.

The watch itself is in a decent condition,
the dial is a two-tone, with gold (colored) markers, hands and the Omega logo.
The dial has some marks/shades on it, but nothing that ”stands out”, and I still find it very pleasing.
Some lume loss to the minutehand.
A bit of dirt on the hands and dial....
The case has scratches, but no major dings or damages, it measures about 36 mm.
The caseback has a very faint waterproof stamp, with burn marks after a strap.
The movement is a manual wind, and it feel smooth when winding and adjusting the hands.
The crystal has scratches, but these can be polished away.

And here is the Biggy with this watch - the crown!
It has the naiad marking on it, and the question is if this is correct?
I have not seen this combo before!

Enjoy the pictures, and it would be nice if my questions could be answered!

Have a nice Day, and look out for them Swedish Flags!!

Amazing!
A few hours after my post, a similar watch appears (but much nicer)!
So this ref might/should have this kind of crown?

Please do share more info?

I bought this watch because of the crown and the fact that some dials are signed Seamaster, others are not. The condition of this watch also had an impact on this

Congrats on your watch and Holliday !
Dont know anything about this reference but a bigger crown makes for better winding i think.

Ref 2923?
Search a few, but not any "two-tones", and different kind of markers.
I have to wait till the watchmaker is back...unless @skand might share more info? :)

The reference refers to the case/movement and is independent of the dial. References were often offered with a wide range of dial combinations.

Your watch must have the same reference as mine, because they are identical, i.e. 2892 cal 284
I also bought it in Sweden

I'm wondering about this "naiad crown". On the Omega website, next to this reference, there is a photo taken from the side and there is no "naiad" sign visible. Maybe only the agent for Sweden, J.P. Brandt, replaced them to make the watches look more attractive?

Could be that Brandt wanted to "spice" the watch up...!?
Have you seen others with this crown?
Brandt imported lots of Omegas in the good old days!

Watchmaker back from his vacation, so he opened the watch!

And behold - it is a 2892-2!!
So I managed to nail it!
And the movement looks nice, so a service, and then on the wrist!

Cheers!
