I don't think you can determine anything by comparing the crystal, because the original was domed and the replacement is flat. The flat crystals sit higher than the domed ones.
Nice work ! There was indeed not much to do with the original !
What wonderful work, there's something special about bringing a old poorly conditioned unloved piece back to life. Amazing, do you regret letting it go?
You say they didn't sit well on your small wrist, what size wrist do you have and can we have a wrist shot?
My comfortable wrist size is 6.5". The problem with the Flightmaster is the lug to lug size and heavy head. This meant that the watch was always moving to one side of my wrist. If strap tightened to stop this it stopped the circulation to my hand! Sorry no wrist shot as watch long gone.
I had a thing about Flightmasters about 10 years ago and also had another restored at the same time.
I can now see that this one had already had a replacement flat crystal when I bought it rather than the original domed one.
Unfortunately they didn't really sit well on my small wrist so neither are still with me.
I remember these well, Jack.
911's came from the factory with a flat crystal and 910's with a domed. They both had the same overall thickness due to the 910 case being slightly thinner.
I'm guessing the factory must have run out of domed crystals by 2009 as both my 910's came back with flat ones!
The crystal for the case number 1450013 is 063TN5147, and it's still clearly domed. They haven't run out of them - I have one on my bench right now that was made in 2010.
Thanks Archer. Could it be that Omega had run out of these by 2009 and re-manufactured a year later given your date of 2010?
Or is it slapped wrist for Omega servicing?
I wasn't there, so I can't say, but I'm not sure what crystal they would have used then. It's not like you can fit the crystal from the 911 watch to the watch with the 910 - they are different diameters. This would mean they had to make a run of flat crystals that were used in your watch, then turn around and make dome crystals again. Unlikely in my view but who knows. You are 100% certain this went back to Omega, and not some third party?
