For whatever reason(s) the various SpeedyMoons Omega introduced over the years never seemed to catch on with the collector community, they are usually overlooked. There have been black, creme and silver dials, and cases in steel and white gold, so there is variety out there. I doubt Omega will introduce another one with the 3861 movement.

I'll toss out my modded 3575.20. These are great watches.

Love this mod.

I believe the overall market is much more sophisticated and historically minded now, than it was when O was releasing these 1866 variants.

As an example, I would cite the extra detail O had to go to when they released the 2024 FOIS vs when they released the 2012 FOIS. Even ignoring the differentiated dial, they had to recreate the case MUCH more accurately to the original. 2012 collectors didn’t notice or care about the case differences.

So I have more hope for the current market. But I also think you’re right. They’re going to keep introducing moonphase Speedmasters whose cases look like they’re straight out of Satan’s funhouse mirror instead of just releasing a 3866.
