GM nerd? More like Cult-leader! 馃槣 Amazing write-up, your passion definitely shows.

How about an Annual Calendar & GMT combo? I think it would make a great alternative to the Sky-Dweller. They'll have to make another movement and perhaps having a lot of hands might be confusing....so maybe they could use the new World-timer system on the new LE AT with the Annual Calendar in the GM, what do you think?

I think I need a holiday!

Not sure what you mean, sorry?

Common on Seiko divers. A beveled ring inside the rehaut. In this case blue.

It allows a non vertical surface instead of a vertical rehaut.

Ok.

I thought the two terms were interchangeable. Naturally, the same concern about the positioning of the indices remain.

You might be right. I was under the impression the rehaut referred to only the vertical surface.

Chapter ring is the solution馃槈

There is an Omega version of the Rolex GMT... the PO GMT. I think they dress up well, just wish it did not have the He valve.
The He valve is very much an irritant for me. Wearing the watch on my right wrist it looks odd sticking out like a wart.馃槻

I don't think the PO GMTs dress up as well as the Rolex GMTs, and I never liked the AT GMTs either..So I do think a Globemaster GMT, done right, could be perhaps THE perfect business travel watch.馃憤

As an owner of a Rolex GMT BLNR I would certainly consider purchasing a Globemaster GMT as an alternative travel watch...a more discreet / elegant option IMO and on a steel bracelet it is still sporty enough for a nice pool dip, if you get the chance馃榾. In certain business meetings you might not want to wear a Rolex.馃槈

Amen to that! Many of us here fondly remember the Seamaster Professional GMT of ten to fifteen years ago. I own the black-dial version of that watch to this day, which Omega properly omitted the helium escape valve from. Too bad they didn't drop it from the Planet Ocean GMTs too.

what about the Coaxial 2500 Deville GMT?

Edit, adding a full frontal glam shot...

Never heard of that book, thanks for the heads-up, looks like a good read.
Yes, it is really cool. I was turning down pages telling the museum that holds particular pieces. It would make for a good holiday plan across/around England.

Here is an old post of mine showing the book:

Looks elegant on leather but there are some issues:-
1) It's not currently offered by Omega...not such a big deal as my preferred opponent is a Rolex Fat Lady
2) Has a movement with a reputation for stopping even if wound
3) I'm really more of a bracelet fan and this model has a bracelet that Liberace would love.
4) Can't track a 3rd time zone (no rotating bezel)
5) Isn't a Globemaster 馃槤

As for the current Omega GMTs they are all over 40mm and/or have a case thickness of 17mm! Thinking back to my comparison, heightwise I could adorn my wrist with the iconic Pepsi bezel GMT Master II from Rolex or an entire Coke bottle from Omega.

Grand Seiko took a different approach (see below) with alternating odd numbers for the 24h GMT hand. Black dial looks quite nice.

On the Globemaster you could do something to the annual calendar (without the silly cursive font)...don't know how it would look....Nick @Longbow thoughts?

Yes, I looked at lots of Grand Seiko GMTs for inspiration. I like most of them, but tried to avoid anything that added text to the dial. Here are ones that I considered:-

some even have Globemaster-like cases.

Side-by-side you can see pretty clearly where the Rehaut version came from. No real magic.

I think alternating odd numbers would look rather nice. Such an approach would also allow the dots to be removed as they would be covered by the existing hour indices, i.e. one more step to simplicity.

Great post! I can only imagine how many hours you spent putting that together. A determined man with a mission. I applaud your drive and desire. The only change I can see is putting an arrow pointer on the end of the 24-hour hand.

I did look at that but the result seemed unnecessarily complicated.

I prefer to remove stuff until there's nothing superfluous left to remove. Although if you keep down that road you end up at the '57 LE Railmaster. 馃槈

But what you're not taking into consideration is that to us "older" guys whose vision is not what it once was (until we get the cataract surgery when it becomes better than it ever was before) all visual clues are most helpful. To us the little arrow head is not superfluous. Just my $0.02.

Nick, I will defer to you as the GM master, but I would suggest extending the GMT hand when the 24h second time zone is on the outer ceramic bezel. I understand the desire to keep things simple, but I think an arrow hand would look good and it also seems to be part of the classic "GMT" watch design code.

I hear you (I'm over 50), my poor eyesight was the primary reason for sliding down this slippery watch collecting slope. I was looking for something with a huge day and date display as I found it increasingly difficult to read my Speedmaster Triple Date as all the features were simply too small. I thought I had the answer in a Breitling Headwind (beautiful dial) but it was simply too big and heavy. That got traded for a '69 18k Seamaster and the rest (of the collection) followed as a direct result.

Looks like what you and I need @AnotherDon isn't a Globemaster but rather a Sightmaster or perhaps a...

...a sports Omega for Presbyopia sufferers. Perhaps something like this?
