Alternatives to the Omega rubberized leather strap.

I popped into the Omega boutique off Oxford Street this week to see their straps.

I have a blue ‘95 Seamaster 300m.

Their blue leather/rubber deployant strap with the white stitching looked nice, and matched the blue of the bezel well, but at £380 I passed.

Has anyone on here found a decent alternative aftermarket strap to the Omega one?

Thanks in advance!

Simon

I have a sail cloth style rubber strap from B and R Bands that I wear frequently when vacationing on my SMP300 2531. I have it on a deployant because I prefer it. It's comfortable and stylish, at least in my opinion.

Cost was something around $35 USD.

I've always been a big fan tropic straps and these days they come in a variety of colors. I even tossed on a genuine Omega tang and buckle to keep it as "Omega" as I can Haha. As a bonus the tropic has a history being a strap for dive watches. I've purchased repops from 50 bucks down to 8 dollars and the quality on all are fantastic, probably coming outa the same factory.

The Omega strap is nice, but I'd be amazed if it cost £380 for the strap.

I could be wrong but isnt the omega strap like $230 or more then you gatta buy the metal ends for around 60 each. Again I'm not positive on the numbers but I think the price may be up there.

The Omega strap was £190, the clasp another £190.

Thanks all for the ideas so far!

There may or may not have been one for sale for a pretty cheap price in the sales forum. Possibly.😗

That sounds a little more like it, I knew the strap wasn't £380

I am an Omega guy, but I would never buy Omega straps because they are just too expensive. If you are looking for something that is super comfortable, dresses well with casual clothes, and has the look and feel of leather but is water resistant to100m, try a Di Modell water resistant strap. I have the Di Modell Rallye which I use with both my Speedmaster and my Seamaster. It handles the water perfectly and the cost is only around $40. You can find it with different color stitching to suit your taste. I highly recommend it!

Oh I'm aware haha. I got 2 genuine clasps, a snoopy strap and two custom straps from JR who makes the snoopy strap. I just never bought the rubber but I know some models require the metal accents which are not cheap as well. Crazy a little fabric and a small clasp is almost 500 bucks lol.

It gets worse if you go for the ceramic clasp option, luckily I got a good deal on this one.

On my Seamaster 300 diver, I will sometimes use a composite strap. Mostly a Maratac one but I found a no name composite strap on eBay for my beater Seiko SNE109 solar diver and it looks and feels good. It has not fallen apart or looked trashy yet and I have had it for about a year. I use this watch for a lot of outdoor work.

Here is a pic of these straps

I think at some point the cost doesn't even matter anymore. It hurts the wallet no matter what.

Many thanks all for the replies - plenty of food for thought and lots of names I was unaware of

Just what I was hoping for.

I ended up with this blue NATO and a black/blue stitching rubber strap, total cost inc. postage, €3.58!
