What in the heck is this one? Got it today at the thrift store. Spent tons of time searching for one like it, as I won’t take the case off on my own tonight. Looks like it’s 1930’s???

I’m guessing ref. 2375. From 1943 onwards.

Very fun thrift store find, I like it. As @MSNWatch suggested, the "AUTOMATIC" on the dial indicates that it was made no earlier than 1943.

Thank you! I’m so thrilled with it. Years ago, I sold an Omega for my mother that was a past family members. I hated letting it go. Since then, I have been keeping an eye out. Tonight, the dream came true! I think that the face is called “salmon” color, although it looks like an old copper penny. It also must be a “thumper” as it thumps when I shake it. It’s been keeping perfect time! I’m still searching, but haven’t come across any pictures of one like it yet. I’m just so happy!!!

That is one hell of a thrift store find, congrats!

It will look amazing after a crystal polish... Please tell how much it cost you 😀

Amazing find, congrats!

Do you have more pictures, of the caseback?
If its around 33mm and with a snap back its probably as stated before a 2375 from mid 40's, very nice model.

If its the bigger 35mm model with screwed down caseback its probably a ref 2638.

Apparently it’s uncommon. I’m unable to find the exact one. Are the salmon colored ones less available?

I just saw this. Thank you for your help! I’ll post some more pics in a bit. I’ll always pull out the calipers.

Are you sure that it is a salmon/copper coloured dial and not just very even, dark caramel discolouration? There looks to be slight haloing around the numbers and hour dots, but then again the crystal is too scratched to be sure of much. Either way it's the bargain of the week.

Agreed, I was thinking patina.

Yes😀 it’s certainly colored intentionally and there is also halo-ing around the numbers. The numbers are shiny silver. I’ll take better photos soon. The scratching is bad as well as seems to be all of the way through, but the “crystal “ feels plastic.‍♀️ I’m obviously learning. Lol

The reason I suggest discolouration is the lack of contrast between the Omega logo and chapter ring and the dial, it doesn't lend itself to telling the time easily or advertising the brand. Of course, you have the watch in hand so are best positioned to judge.

If that’s not patina that is quite interesting although I’ve come across a few that were severely yellowed from time and the elements but who knows I’m no expert. Very nice find for 15 bucks I was on a decent run for a while finding some pieces for a few months but now that more people are out and about seems to be less common for me now. Good on you it’ll be great with a cleaned crystal and service enjoy.

Here are more photos. I took the band off to gently clean it with a dry toothpick and Q-tip. I don’t know if it should get wet at all and I’m afraid to chance it. I’m sure that it resists water having survived all of these years! Maybe the browning is patina, I’m not educated enough to say other than the hours I’ve spent looking at them on the internet trying to find this one. Pictures make it difficult to see the true color. You guys are truly awesome for giving your opinions and advice. Would having the back opened for the serial number tell me exactly what I have?

Ya. There are lots of people out there looking. It’s even more exciting when you come across something though.‍♀️

It’s cool how happy you are it kind of emanates from your post. It is nice to come across something I think even more so when it’s something you will enjoy yourself. A lot of flippers tear the places up looking to get every dime they can out of a watch. That’s fine people gotta live and eat but when you find something “for you” it has more meaning, to me at least. And yes I have flipped a couple things but only gold watches as I’m not really into precious metal on watches. Do you have a watch maker nearby you should get, if you so choose, a service on that watch, then you won’t have to worry about it for a while. You could have them open it and take a picture of all the info inside.

What a great score. You may have noted by now that almost no one around here would describe the color change on your watch's dial—and it's hard to image that the dial was ever originally ever close to that color; the haloing around the indices seems to confirm that—as undesirable. That kind of rich, even patina is sought after. Good eye; get it serviced by a local independent watchmaker and be delighted by it for the rest of your life. Don't let it get sent to Omega for service, please. Local, independent—ask for recommendations here.

Oh, meant to say: Not that I'm any kind of expert, but getting a replacement crystal for an old Omega watch can be surprisingly easy and affordable. It makes a huge difference. My old beat-up Seamaster looks (to me) like one million US dollars now.
