I wouldn't have the first clue as to whether this eBay sale is real or fake. It looks clean, is listed at £1000 starting, and the seller insists on cash on collection. Should it be reported?

What makes you think it’s fake? Looks like a late 90s Speedy Day-Date. Not incredibly desirable and the price is a little high IMO if it hasn’t been serviced recently, but it looks real enough to me.

Just as I say, I don't know about Speedmasters at all and as the seller wanted cash on collection only I just got suspicious.

Probably doesn’t fancy giving 4% of the sale to PayPal.
Fair enough, but surely his likely realised price would easily be suppressed by more than 4% with a restriction like that?

Looks real to me, but it's expensive, and IIRC eBay wouldn't cover the buyer on a cash sale, unless it's buyer-selected.

A seller is no longer allowed to offer "cash on collection" as a payment method, but if the seller offers collection as an alternative to postage, and the buyer selects collection, then the buyer will also be presented with the option to pay cash on collection, and the seller has no option to refuse this.

It's a 24-hour subdial. It shows if the main hands are am or pm - in case you had been stuck in a basement for a week, I guess.

Looks good to me. I have the slightly later version of this triple date (Avatar, top left) and the 24 hour subdial has only really been useful to me on three occasions:

1. When setting the watch after it has stopped (I know if it stopped am or pm without having to advance the hands past 12:00).

2. That one time when I was stuck in a basement for a week.

3. When I go to Denmark in winter.

I don’t know, I’d have to disagree with some of the comments. It has a great mvmt, love the complications it has, the 24 hr comes in handy when setting it and great for smaller wrist. It’s not a Pro, but in the US they can bring more than 1300 dollars based on condition. Mine says hi.

Which comments do you disagree with? I see no criticisms of the triple date, just a couple of jokes. I love my triple date...still my favorite watch after 11 years of ownership.

Just thought I’d point out some of the positive attributes too that seemed to have been remised. I’ve also seen these listed upwards of 2k and more in great shape at some previously owned watch dealers here in Atlanta also. A Pro is definitely on the horizon, but I’ll keep my Triple Date as well. I love em.

They definitely have their fans, like you and me (and a few other members on here) but they can't complete with the desirability of the Pro overall. No way I ever move my triple date on though.
