Just wanted to ask u guys opinion on this dial, do you guys think this is legit?

The watch is an Air-King 5500, case stated 5million serial number (I checked online should be from 1978).

Really appreciate u guys’ opinion.

Thank you!

The dial is much later than the watch, notice the T Swiss Made T signature at 6. I would look for an example with a period correct dial that is signed T Swiss T.

I think "Swiss Made" is roughly about the time of the switch to Superluminova, so 2000-ish.

is it just me or does the dial look to be a re-finished one?

  • The serifs look a bit too aggresive
  • hour indexes look unconventional to most examples
  • and to my knowledge most Air Kings from the late 70s have a softer 'A' compared to a pointier one as shown in the OP's example

Not refinished but a later dial as noted above.

This is my one owner (me) Rolex Air-King from 1971. This dial is original to the watch, and other than the fact it is all white, it appears to me to be the same as the dial on the subject watch, except mine has the date. The T Swiss Made T a replacement dial? This watch is totally original.

The Air King date is reference 5700 and Canada only, correct?
