Yes, as I noted there are different enlargement rings (movement spacers) required for the solid case back and display case back. The movement is held in place by the case back, so there has to be contact between it and something - in the solid case back models it's the inner anti-magnetic cover, that is in turn fitted to the enlargement ring.
In the display case back models, the enlargement ring is taller - that version is on the left and the one for the solid case back is on the right in this photo I took of them a few years ago:
Doing the conversion with a genuine Omega case back, without changing the enlargement ring is hack work IMO...
