Hi.
We are looking for some advise on a inheritance piece.

This watch has been well worn and looks like it needs some restoration and maintenance. The pin on the strap is missing and some maintenance of the crown is required. However, the watch is working fine.

is it worth investing in a restoration ?

Any advise is much appreciated

Depends on what you mean by a restoration. This is a collectible watch, worth in excess $6k USA. Priority one would be to have the movement disassembled, cleaned and reassembled -- and by a competent watchmaker. (avoid sending it to Omega, as they may replace valuable parts with modern replacement parts) The lume is moldy looking, and that is not something that can usually be cleaned much without caused damage; decide if you are okay with it like that, and if not there are a couple well-known people who can relume in an attractive -- yet original-looking -- manner. Replacing the crystal would improve the looks a bit. Avoid a case repolish to remove the scratches if you want to preserve value. The bezel looks nice, although others here are experts for assessing if refinished.

It looks like a nice watch, and there is value in keeping it as original as possible.

Are you looking to keep it and restore it or sell it?

If you're keeping it it needs servicing by a watchmaker sympathetic to vintage watches.

If you're selling it, just sell it as it is.

Looks really nice with a period correct bezel for a 26xxx. Just give it a service of the movement. Do you have pictures in normal daylight?

Can you tell a bit more about the piece? Who owned it and how did you get it? Where was the watch bought? Original papers and box add value.
