Hello all,

Recently stumbled upon this Tudor oyster prince on reddit. It’s a reference 7808. The “E” in self winding is fading. I’m sure that devalues the watch a bit. Seller has not posted movement. Not sure if hands are re lumed. It’s up for sale at $700USD. Anything I should know? Thoughts?

I'd be reluctant to say much without seeing better photos.

Yes those pictures are lousy but it appears the dial might have been aggressively cleaned. To me $700 is no bargain but if you're in love that's different.

Considering the strap and case are reasonably sharp, the lettering isn't. I'd run screaming in the other direction (metaphorically speaking).

It is a small manual wind, and may be fine but those photos cannot tell anything. That dial might have an eggshell finish - or not.

FYI, here it is on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Tu...115087?hash=item1aa3508dcf:g:Rf4AAOSwJYhfTXCl

The dial is at least partially refinished, I believe? Tudor is known for having the "rotor self winding" text at 6 o'clock in a "smiling" form, not a straight line. I think the hands are relumed as well. Tudor Princes like this are easy to come by, I'd hold out for a better example. It might cost more, but it'll be worth it.

And on this vintage, shouldnt the case back have the serial number on the outside of the case back - and i cant see that

i know my similar age Tudor has, which shares the same Tudor dial logo ( rose in shield, @ 1936-47)

so another minus point maybe against this piece?
