Advice re a rubber strap for 42mm Planet Ocean 2201.50

Hi all - as per my recent new watch thread I’m absolutely loving this thing. Wearing it constantly at work and play so I’m thinking of getting a rubber strap for it as, whilst it is 10 years old and I’m not babying it at all, hearing the crunch of the strap on my desk every day does induce a small amount of anxiety...

I can’t see rubber straps on the omega website, only NATO’s, and I’d rather not add to the height of the watch. Are there official Omega rubber straps available? Do they have different colours (thinking of a drab/olive green one)? Can you get them with a clasp fitting?
And if not, are their standard go-to 3rd party rubber straps that people use for their Omegas? I’m in the UK if that makes a difference. Cheers for any advice!

Oh - and someone says you always have to post a picture..

Cheers both - but where do you get them? Do you have to call Omega/go to one of their boutiques? Any recommendations re 3rd party offerings?

I usually call a boutique, and they will tell you what you need, when you give them watch details. You can either visit or pay them and they'll post to you, whereabouts in UK are you?

Left is the diver on the 42mm PO 2500 and the right is the rubber for the 8500 PO 42mm which also fits.
Depends if you want sporty/diver thicker strap, or a dressy rubber that looks like a leather. Both great, but 8500 is more formal and officey.

Thanks - sounds like a phone call is the way to go. I’m in London so will call one of the central stores.

Are there any particularly well respected non-omega rubber straps that you know of?
Cheers

Zealande makes straps for Omega but it's mainly for the Seamaster 300M diver. I don't know if they have anything for the PO.

Have a look on Watchfinder site on eBay they are always selling used straps off watches.
Seen the model you need a couple of times in last couple of years if you are prepared to wait you’d save a fortune. I used to own one and word of warning they are very very dull to look at after a while. The newer ones (not sure if they will fit) are more interesting with stitch detail.
As others have said plenty of aftermarket options out there.
Happy hunting

Here is the original one that I use for the same PO in 42mm.. lug size 20mm
It came with the watch, but I do enjoy the bracelet more on this model than the newer ones.

Part number 98000144 64 JJJ

Not a fan of the Zealande, they're quite plasticky looking, but not relevant anyway as they don't do one for the PO. Don't agree the 2500 diver dulls, it can get a shine to it which isn't ideal, but I just wash them and they come up pretty decent. Had mine for about 12 years and it gets more wear than any of the other rubber or NATO I own and it's still OK.

I have the factory rubber strap Daniel Craig wore on my 45.5. It's a little pricey for rubber but looks and feels great.

I’m very curious whether the new 20mm rubber strap from the Seamaster Pro would fit. Anyone own both that could try it out?

Below are some part numbers for various straps for the 42mm PO. These can be sourced in an Omega Boutique or AD.

I have the Orange 2209.50.00 so these are more focused to that. You can google the part code though to see them.

98000147 - Orange Leather PO strap 20mm

98000292 - black rubber orange stitching for deployment
98000295 - orange rubber for deployment
98000297 - black rubber white stitching for deployment
98000278 - 20mm to 18mm black leather

Yes. I love the black rubber orange stitching for deployant. (98000292) Would go wonderfully with my modified 2201.50
Have moved away from bracelets this year and have a thing for straps and deployants. Deployants suit my (mostly tool) watches, I detest tugging on buckles, love the convenience, but not so much the cost. Crazy prices.. But then again, summer is coming so I will see how the straps go. I doubt I could handle the rubber over an Australian Summer so will see how my leather acquisitions handle the coming months. So far ithe change from bracelet to Strap is like a whole new collection, though admittedly, a serious strap fetish is now happening!
As for a rubber strap for the PO. Last time I looked, they used to go for around $200, but like everything, and especially everything Omega, you can kiss those prices goodbye.

I actually wanted a 2201.51.00 as I had a new orange bezel so I could flip between the two.

I agree around the strap options being addictive and makes the watch seem like a new purchase again. I got lucky with the Omega dive rubber. I paid £30 give or take. It has some cracks in it but I bought it to see if I like it and honestly don't. I would have hated to buy that new from an AD. I did buy the rubber with orange stitching and clasp and got 10% off. Still pricey but very nice. Not too bad over the summer but I think a bracelet would be best in Aus. A leather strap won't last long out there in the summer I don't think.

Once you have the deployant clasp though your options are open to OEM Omega or 3rd party straps.

As a reference point, I've been buying various straps the past 2 years that require deployant buckles in the US, and they've been costing about $250 USD. I think there was a price rise recently so it may be more now. I'm guessing it'll be over $300 AUD

I’ve been runnin’ my PO 2500 on an Uncle Seiko GL831 lately. It’s like a whole different watch. The strap is very soft, flexible, and incredibly comfortable. Easy 24/7 wearability. Love it! $39 on Uncle Seiko website.

So refreshing to see a watch that has been loved and worn. My PO, likewise has some scrapes and the bezel somewhat faded.. Surprisingly disparaged on some other online groups, by what I call the Rolex headset... What you wore the watch? Before you sold it? Uncle Seiko.. there should be an OF award for this guy! Thanksyou US!
