I understand that black dials are a rediallers favourite so looking for opinions please.

The only issues I can see are the M in chronometer and the C in automatic. I am hoping this is the dial bleeding through from below or possibly debris? Despite this the M and C still appear defined under a loupe like the other fonts.

I have tried taking photos but really struggling with reflections so have used the sellers photos.
The seller claims it's an original dial and does seem to state in his ads when they are original or restored.
He sells many watches and has 100% feedback with +4000 positive transactions on Ebay.

    Many thanks

I think you have to look closer at that minute track. Ask for a closer straight pic of the dial?

    I have
I have the watch to hand (already purchased) but struggling with good pics. I have done my best to check all the minute markers and they seem all aligned and evenly spaced.

Sunlight pictures sometimes help them come out clearer. Others here have much more experience with Connies, but even if it is a redial (and I'm inclined to say it's not a redial) yours looks really good.

Thanks, fingers crossed it's original but if not it still looks amazing on the wrist.

Here is the cut of the cross hair and constellation on a 14381 dial. If your cross hair doesn't cut at same spot, the dial needs closer inspection.

It's a fraction off touching the 'e' but closer to 'e' than 'l'. Is this a problem?
    Thanks

Would you post a detailed pic from that spot? (Including minute markers)

    Is this just for pie-pans?

    @hoipolloi

Anyone looking to buy a Connie should keep these two pictures as reference. Thank you so much!

Sorry Hoi, I know you guys need good photos but I am really struggling with this dial. I think I will have to take it to my watchmaker and ask him to look at the back of the dial.

Black dials are nice and rare, they are expensive, too. Unfortunately, 98% of them are redial, good luck.

I am beginning to realise that little knowledge is dangerous in this game. How much would a redial affect its value? Not sure where your based but I paid £900.

Coulda lost a lot more on it. Good luck with the process. If the guy has %100, reach out to him and show him this thread. Maybe he will let you return it. He may even appreciate the knowledge provided by @hoipolloi!

    Good luck!

I will give him benefit of doubt until I have spoken to my watchmaker. Thanks for the good wishes.

You can check for yourself by comparing the edges of the pie pan and the details from this one, are the edges of your pie pan sharp like mine?

I have just been studying the dial for the past hour and still can't make my mind up. I have another pie pan (which I believe to be original - attached) and have been comparing the two. I wouldn't say it's quite as sharp as yours but are black dials as sharp as the lighter colours?

Don't compare it to a different ref. 168.005.
