Hi, I'm looking around to buy a vintage Omega Seamaster and I've found a piece that I really like. I would prefer if the watch is as close to original as possible. I have attached two photos, which are not that great but I guess they are better than nothing. In the add the seller mentions that the case ref number is 166.001. The seller also mentions that the production/piece number is 20717047. Is this information valuable or helpful in any sort of way? The price for the watch is about 600 USD and I'm having a little bit of trouble deciding if this watch is worth the price. I'm not looking for a bargain, I just don't want to ripped off. I have scheduled a meeting with the seller tomorrow. Is there anything special I should look at if/when I purchase the watch? All opinions and advises are appreciated. Thanks, Martin
Here is information on this watch: http://www.omegawatches.com/planet-omega/heritage/vintage-watches-database?ref=15296 Looks nice to me, case has been polished a bit. Crown may be a replacement. I'd want to see condition of the movement before making an offer. $600 would be full retail on this watch. I'd like it better at 2/3 that price. gatorcpa
USD600 only with a full service and 12months warranty. Mind you there are better ones out there at a lower price, but it is down to finding them before the rest of us!
Thank you all for your answers. I purchased the watch yesterday and so far I'm very satisfied. I managed to get the price down a little bit, 530 USD, and I'm aware of that the price I paid might be a little high. However, I had no problem with paying a little bit extra since the seller seemed trustworthy. The seller also had a receipt of a full service from November 2014. I have attached some more pictures in case someone wants to have another look.
