Hi All - one of my friends is looking to buy a vintage watch for her soon to be husband as a wedding gift. He only wears dress watches and tends to darker dials. She's looking to spend somewhere around £2-3k. :) Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm going to trawl the sales forums, but interested in what people would recommend. I suspect there will be some choice that would never have occurred to me from you all.

    Thanks all!

That kind of budget should be able to score an AP or VC. Any one of the manual calibers from the 100x/200x series (1 = VC / 2 = AP) or automatics from the 112x/212x would make a fine dress watch. Generally, a VC commands 20% or more above a similar AP. There's always JLC too - an 800C manual or 88x automatic would be an excellent choice. A Piaget manual 9P or automatic 12P should be in the mix too. The problem is the dark dial - these brands made even fewer non-white dials than Omega did.
