Dear all,
Today I saw this Cosmic 2000 for sale, which got my attention as I am looking for my first black dial watch, preferably an Omega or a Longines (these brands bring me good memories, which explains my preference).
Although the pics are not of a very good quality, I was wondering whether you can detect any serious defect in this watch, please. Do you think is it a redial? What would be a reasonable price for this watch, assuming the movement is in good condition?(Unfortunately there are no pics of the movement.)
Below I copy and paste the seller's description"
"Omega Seamaster Cosmic 2000
1970s
Self-winding mechanical movement
Steel monoblock case measuring 38 mm excluding crown (oversize)
Very rare model in this configuration compared to the usual Cosmics
Original case with Omega symbol and Seamaster snake on the case back
Original crown
Very beautiful original dial, hour-markers, and hands
Generic leather strap measuring 23 cm (including case)
Original buckle
In good condition
Serviced in May of 2020"

Well, the ad is correct on this. Seamaster snakes are unusual 😉

It's original. I think these cosmics are quite nice. Fantastic diameter of 38mm. Beautiful shaped case. A plus is the black dial. I would say a allround 70's omega with great potential.

What's the asking price and is there proof of service?

I saw one almost similar on chrono for EUR 899 and it was reserved.

Without larger clearer photos it would be hard to make a qualified judgment about the dial.

The buckle is fake for sure.

It's a bid, with no minimum price. The current bid is about 450 euro and the estimated price is 800-900 euro, like the one on Chrono.

Good to know. Thanks.
How can I see whether a buckle is original? Any tip will be welcome.

Personally I think 900 € is too much for these.

They're a reasonable buy at 500 € but when you get above that I'd be looking for proof of service and a bracelet for 900

The only reason I was positive about this one is the fact I bought one recently (with bracelet). 😁 But I really do think this model has a lot of things going for it.

I agree. They're a good starter Omega at the right price, pretty solid, large-ish case size, good variety of dials and like a unishell DeVilles they're hard to open for an amateur so less like to have been messed with by someone who has no idea what they're doing.

They are however an entry level watch imo, with the less desirable movement.

The black dial Cosmic 2000s are less common but "rare" is pushing it IMO.

There's a few of us Cosmic 2000 fans here. You either like the 70s style or you don't.The 1012 movement may not be as popular as the 565 from the "great period", but it's still a high-quality, very accurate movement and easier to set the time and date. And sometimes it's more about the dial and the case. If Heuer can use the Landeron 248 in their chronos.... . . . . .
