Advice on Speedmaster case

I was lucky enough through a great forum member to finally get the correct DON bezel for my 145-012-67. What I am now considering is a better case for my beaten up but regularly worn watch. She's called Sound of Music for reasons outside this post! Is it worth doing and how much should I budget for a case? Or leave as is? Do I lose all integrity and originality if case is swapped?
Forum advice welcomed warmly as ever.

I would leave it as it is.
But i guess a very light case refinish would not harm.

I second the vote to leave as it is. Can always buy a second if you want one with a nicer case 馃榾

I believe that you will regret anything as major as a case swap.

The affection you transparently hold for this watch may well be in part because of the amount you wear it, and the lack of worry when you do.

It is a very attractive watch, and one that can easily be worn daily without fear of making a massive dent in the value if the case should be damaged.

Also part of the attraction is that very patina of use.

Should you change the case, it will be a different watch, and you will perhaps treat it differently, perhaps care for it more, which might lead to less time on your wrist, and so less enjoyment.

Time to buy another....

Good advice SpaceFruit- I was leaning in the direction of keeping as is and your wise comments have made my mind up. It does get worn a fair bit, along with my 1969 Speedie and I cant see myself ever selling either of them. Their battered glory is part of the charm, along with memories of great moments shared. My 2 year old plays with them and I dont mind in the slightest. However, I still lust after a 1961 Speedmaster to wear as a beater so that shall be my new goal in life! ( If anyone has one please do get in touch...but will need to do some very serious trading of existing assets to get near one I think!).

Definitely keep the case as is.

None original hands or even bezels are one thing (obviously original is certainly preferable), but changing the case? That's a huge part of the watch. If parts are believed to have aged together they should generally stay together imo. Ok you might swap the hands or bezel for a slightly better one (keeping the originals), but swapping out the case, dial and movement is a different league.

Changing a watch case is like changing the whole body of your car.Your only left with the running gear.
