Advice on Omega "W.W.W" recently purchased

Hello Gentlemen,

I'm looking for some identification advice on an Omega I recently purchased as a wildcard on eBay. the seller reportedly had no knowledge of the watch and the photos were out of focus. Please see the attached photos.

It is clearly not a WW2 era WWW aka dirty dozen.
The movement is a 601 - I understand these were made in the '60s
The case size is 36mm, and lug to lug is 42.
The case looks and feels relatively new.
Engraved on the back is W.W.W; Y 3498; 1355.011

If anyone could help ID the watch that would be great. My feeling is it's a Frankenstein of some sort or a modified Geneve as a replica or a deliberate fake. I could not find any later Omega military watches that match the movement or engravings in my research.

Many Regards.

There’s a chance it could be some 50s or 60s issue watch. Case design is in line with late 50s. I just can’t see a watch like this being faked, but I’ll be gladly proven wrong

Well the caseback is for a gold plated 135.011 which doesn’t match the mid case which seems aftermarket to me.
Fantasy redial as wel IMO.
Cal 601 doesn’t have sub seconds so god know how that’s working.

I’d look to return it if was me and it’s a Franken of genuine, aftermarket and refinished parts.

Pretty awful franken.

Are those photos from you or the seller?
If they're from the seller you probably won't have a 601 movement, or if it does, the sub-second dial hand is probably painted on or a hand is glued on. I can't see if there's a pivot in the sweep second cock or in the fourth wheel jewel. They may have used a sub second 4th wheel from another caliber and drilled a hole in the dial.
It's still all bullshit.

I'd love to pull it apart to see what's going on there.

Thanks David - I'll be returning it as not as described (clearly listed as a British issue military watch).

Thanks everyone for the input, I'll post an update when resolved.

These are my photos. The pics from the listing were out of focus and only of the dial and the watch. In hindsight likely on purpose.

The sub-second-hand is working and the watch is keeping time!!!!

I'd say they used a 4th wheel from an earlier caliber then. It would have a longer pivot to go through the dial.

What was the item description? If it was as nebulous as the photos you may have trouble returning it.

That really is rather bad - sandblasted caseback with fake laser etching etc. etc. The only thing that looks original are the hour and minute hands (minute hand being to long for the dial which looks like a possible printout, a la that fella on eBay who has been turfing out those awful military 'homage' watches).

Is there a link to the listing at all?
