Looking to buy a cal. 565 movement (no need for case, crystal, etc) and hoping to get some advice from the experts. I've been keeping an eye on ebay for watches that house this movement as there doesn't appear to be much traffic for the movement itself. Few questions:

Are there other places to look that sell movement sans housing?
How much should I pay for this movement in great shape?
What are the things to look out for when purchasing?

I'm sure there other questions I should be asking but these are top of mind at the moment until I get educated. Appreciate the help, as always.

I ended up purchasing one from a fellow forum member and will be sending it along to Archer in a week or two for a new Omega SM300. Prior to this I looked on eBay and it seemed a nice looking movement was in the $250 to $350 range. A number of unwanted Omega models with the 565 sold from $200 to $500. It really depends on who's buying that week.

Your best bet is to do a few searches for sold movements and sold watches featuring the 565.

What do you plan using the movement for?

Thanks for the advice. I see that geneves, cosmics and connies all ran a 565 in them. Are there others I should hunt for?

My purpose is the same as yours, looking to have Al build me a SM300.

Does it help it to know I am trying to find redials as I can't really stomach taking a perfectly good watch out of commission? ;). Doesn't make the search any easier, though.

Since you're making up a watch you may also want to consider other movements. Cal 562, 560 and 563 are all calendar movements. The 563 is the 17-jewel US delivery equivalent of the 565, both being quick-set.
