    Hi all,

I like the idea of buying a vintage watch from my birth year.

Wondered if you guys thought there were any significant models I should look at from this time period? Ideally Omega, but suppose doesn't really matter if there is a good story around the watch.

    Thanks in advance :)

The end of the seventies wasn't a glorious time in Omega history. If I needed a watch from -79, I'd go for a Speedster Pro.

That's good advice. My rudimentary googling pretty much confirmed that also. Just wanted to check there wasn't something I was missing!

I am 79’ as well, and have pretty much put Omega to the side for a birth year watch. Instead I have turned my hunt towards Rolex. I am particularly keen on a 79’ 1665 SD and a 79’ Maxi 5513. Just my thoughts, happy hunting!

Thanks Kali77, will take a look at that.

Regarding your avatar name. Do you train in Filipino Kali?

Use ilovemyspeedmaster.com to check serial number for production date. Most likely it will be a 145.022-78 model.
