Hi all! New here and have read the new users thread as well as post guidance thread. Would love to give back to the forum in the future!

I've started to get into vintage watches over the last few months and had my eye on this one on ebay:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/201745197094Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network

I was doing my best to evaluate the watch and wanted second opinions from the experts.

The seller is ocwatchco, which seems to be a brick and mortar watch dealer in San Francisco. Here is the information they posted:
Vintage 1964 Men's Omega Automatic Seamaster DeVille, 17 Jewels, Caliber 601, Reference No. 135.010
Stainless Steel Case Measures 41 mm From Lug To Lug, 18mm Between Lugs, 35 mm in Diameter Excluding the Crown
Features Original Turler Dial, and Omega Buckle.
Comes With Gift Box and Certificate with One Year Warranty Through Our Company
Running Strong and Keeps Excellent Time. Just Serviced (Cleaned, Oiled, Adjusted)

The 135.010 takes me to a 1962 reference on the Omega Site:
    https://www.omegawatches.com/planet-omega/heritage/vintage-details/14320/

According to that file, it's a mechanical movement not an automatic. Also says
"1962 Metal, with luminous hour markers and luminous metal hands.
Different dial versions, with "Seamaster De Ville" or "De Ville".

    Questions:
So I'm not sure if that's a red flag that the Omega record number says 1962 and seller says 1964, maybe the seller just has the date wrong? Omega's records don't seem too well organized either. More importantly, the seller lists it as an automatic, but am I right that automatic de ville's stated "automatic" on the dial? Shouldn't this be a manual?

The seller claims it's an original dial, which checks out with what I've been able to find but I'm only an amateur. What do you all think? Notice anything hokey about the watch?

No photos of the interior of the watch unfortunately. :(

Thank you very much for any help!

This YouTube review is also apparently of the same watch, and he describes it as a manual, not automatic movement.

    So an update:
Seller said that watch was misadvertised as an automatic, actually a manual. Sent me additional photos. Case reference number is 166.020....also different from listing 135.010...

Frankenwatch. That case and movement/dial does not match. A 166.020 should be an automatic with calendar.

Yeah...not sure if deliberate, but the mislabeling in the ebay ad should have been a bigger red flag. Oh well, moving on. Did the dial look original to you? Thank you for the help!

I am not sure about the watch you have posted - the Omega logo looks a bit off.

A quick look at his other auctions and there are some awful redials that are not mentioned in the seller blurb.

I'd stay clear of the seller to be honest.

Stick around here for a few months and soak it all in. One of the best pieces of advice i have read on here is to be patient. Easier said than done when you've been bitten by the vintage bug but it'll honestly be worth it in the end.

    Good luck

I think it's ok. Hard to tell though from just one photo.

edwards53 here are some other pictures, its got some patina on the dial kinda hard to see. I can't open the inside cause I don't have the tools to take a picture of it, its a monocoque style.
but I would love to see if everything checks out as original. this is what I get from the omega data base:
    https://www.omegawatches.com/planet-omega/heritage/vintage-details/14418/

do you know where I can find more info into verifying my watch?

Looks fine to me. Get a watchmaker to open the watch to verify movement and case reference.

FYI - TURLER is a Swiss jeweler in business over 100 years.

It still looks good, but you gave the impression that you bought it because you liked it and a few minutes later you are asking how much can you sell it for? Can you see how that looks a bit strange?

Small size and damaged dial, you'll be lucky to get half of that.

The date on the Omega website is only the introduction date, first year offered.

Numerous references were produced for many years. I see no issue with the serial number on your watch.

    Hi there,

I'm about to buy this watch, but I'm a bit new in the Omega game. Can you please tell me if this is a great buy?
Seller says it is ref. 135.010.

Thank you very much in advance :)
