Hi guys,
I’m honestly new to watches with just one automatic that I love. I’ve always wanted a Omega Seamaster and I seem to have fallen in love with the Seamaster Cosmic 2000 and the auction house 100m away from me has one up for auction tomorrow.

It’s in average condition and the crown is present and comes with the Omega strap. However, I was surprised to see the case that had somebody try to open it perhaps not understanding this case.
What are your thoughts? Is it worth a punt and send for repair?

It is listed as not working. I get the impression the movement is nothing special for a watchmaker but opening the case seems to be the hard part which I suspect is the challenge.

I’m based in Cambridge (UK) if anybody knows a watchmaker.

Thanks,
Mike

This watch is nothing I would consider for a first purchase. Apart from that it has been redialed, it's a senseless project.

I would consider to find a watch here on OF, where members are sharing with members.

But first of all, I'd try to find out more about the watch I want to fall in love with.

Have to agree with all of that. Just look at the wonky "Swiss Made" at the foot of the dial!

A project watch is never a good idea for a beginner, and not that brilliant for anyone who can't repair watches themselves. Do you have a particular budget?
