Hey, new to the forum. I've been reading through the stickies on the page & they have been super useful. Especially the "how to fish" post!

It's been a few months of research and I'm now thinking about pulling the trigger on an Omega vintage watch. My price range is $500-1000. I've seen this Omega Men's Seamaster Cosmic 2000 on an auction. Based upon what I've read it seems it meets the criteria - but would love for your opinions? With these Cosmic's I've read on this forum that getting the back off is very difficult & I know you guys suggest looking at the movement. But hoping you can get a good tell by these photos.

If this is indeed legit - what kind of price would you expect I should pay for it?

    Thanks in advance!

Dial hasn't aged well. I wouldn't pay near your minimum for that watch, if I were to pay anything. Have you ckeched the private sales subforum here?

@Rochete appreciate the response. My thoughts exactly, bit of a shame but hoping that means that it's still original though.

Yes, been through the private sale forum, haven't seen anything in the US at my price range yet. Keeping an eye on the Recommended vintage on ebay thread too. I know this will be a long process! Right now I'm looking more towards vintage stainless steel bracelet type omega's with white/lighter face, automatic dial & not too big.

cosmics like the one you pictured are a tricky model as they are "front loaders". the backs don't come off. getting a peek at the movement would be a lot of work considering how the crystals are mounted.

For your budget you could get a decent, pre-2000 Cosmic. Better movements and a range of cool dial options. I’d pass on this one.
