I bought this watch yesterday and was wondering if it could possibly be real. I suspect not but live in hope. Thanks in advance.
Shame. Could you tell me why? I read somewhere that if it says antimagnetic on the face, that is an indication that it is a fake. Would you know if that is correct?
You should have been able to tell by looking at how the Swiss made text or the omega text was printed Is this some counterfeiters practice watch wth
Ah well then, all good! Enjoy it and maybe even open it up and pull it apart to play around with watchmaking. I've thought of doing that with some cheaper purchases in the past.
The quality control at major manufacturers at that time was high - they would never have let anything with this level of mis-matched sloppy printing out the door. These were tools but still luxury purchases so you expected them to be finished to a reasonable standard (and a reasonable SWISS standard at that - a group known for being fairly anal-retentive respecting fine details).
There's a pinned thread on this forum showing examples of fakes and this with sloppy writing and anti magnetic on the dial is classic. All you're missing is 18k on the caseback for the hat trick.
My 5 year old is stoked that someone finally bought the watch where he painted the dial when he was 3 year old. His current work is a bit better.
Some interesting reading. You'll probably find your watch there. https://omegaforums.net/threads/don...omegas-post-them-here-not-for-questions.6235/
