Advice needed on vintage Seamaster DeVille

I am new to the vintage Omega side of things and will readily admit I’m in over my head at this point but I’m trying to learn. Does anyone have thoughts on this watch? I’m trying to find a vintage DeVille and want to be certain that whatever I end up with is authentic and of good quality as my plan is simply to wear and enjoy my purchase. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. According to the seller the watch was serviced this year and is keeping time within +/-10 seconds per day.

I’m not a De Ville expert but it looks fine to me.

I’d be interested to know if your seller is a dealer or a private seller, the price he’s asking (as in, 'is it worth it?') and if he has a receipt from whoever serviced it - because many reputable servicers give a 12 months guarantee.

The seller is a dealer in the UK and they do offer a 12 month warranty. They have it listed at $1900 or make an offer so I am uncertain of what a fair offer would be.

Does the seller say that it is gold-filled, gold-capped, or a solid gold case? I'm having trouble determining the color of the back. I suppose maybe it is a gold-capped with a gold bezel and a SS unishell? If so, it's about 3x what I would pay for it.

That looks like a gold capped case to me so although it looks largely correct and in decent enough condition (although the photos are so overexposed it’s hard to tell if there are any blemishes on the dial) it’s expensive for what it is, even with a service history and warranty

Thank you all for your input. It is gold capped.

Just to say that it’s very expensive for what it is. If you don’t want to keep looking on eBay or similar, I’d have a look and see what’s on Chrono24. That can be an expensive place but given your present intention, it’s worth a look.

you made it here to this site so I suggest you buy your Deville from a forum member in the marketplace section 👍

Do not rush. The watch looks very good in the pictures but the price as other members from here told it is very high. My advice will be to watch the sold listings on eBay, find other prices and finally start to try to win at auction. For me that was the best method to get some good deals.
