universal-unicompax.gif universal-unicompax.gif universal-unicompax-1.gif Hi guys I am new to the UG field and am interested in the early model Uni Copax attached.
I am concerned about it being totally original as told by the seller.
The inner caseback seems to have been altered, notice center disruption of the machine surface.
The dial although aged seems very good condition for the year 1939, the U above UNIVERSAL geneve I have not seen before.

    Something does not seem right.
I appreciate your informed opinons .

I think it's a redial. Never seen that case back stamp for UG.

Thank you for clearing up my doubts and confirming them. This watch is being promoted as TOTALLY original and investment grade.
Without your combined expertise many expensive mistakes would have been made.
As a new member I have already learnt that the UG field is littered with beautiful trinkets, many overpriced and just for an unsuspecting looking for a guy like me.
    A wonderful interesting forum.

Don't hesitate to ask. You'll see that after a few months you'll answer by yourself.
To educate your redial-spotting eye, have a look at previous threads dealing with the same question.

I very nearly pulled the trigger on this piece.
The very long blurb that accompanies the advert is very convincing, informative but I now realise just BS.
For others that may be tempted this "dealer" is situated in UK, for those that are interested in clever marketing this is the link.

A bunch of historical information is also wrong in his novel of a description. And some of it is just nonsensical.

You will soon learn that there are a lot of shams out there. As mentioned in my post about my Polerouter Sub journey, I encountered tons of these unscrupulous dealers and sellers. I've found Sala's book to be greatly informative. But nothing beats the collective wisdom and (care for its members) of this forum.
