advice needed for a suveran

hi, i am considering purchasing this omega suveran. but i could really need a second opinion.
to the best of my knowledge its an original dial but it´s of course damaged but i can live with that.
the crown is missing and the owner has therefore no clue whether the watch works or not but i am willing to take a gamble on that.
but how easy is it to find a new crown (do not have to be original) and put it in place?
feel free to mention any other things i should be aware of, it would really be appreciated.
thanks in advance

These crowns was not signed so finding a replacement crown would not be to difficult.

More worrying is thats its not in fact a Suverän, the caseback is not signed as all Suveräns are.

In best case its a ref 2383 which share the case with Suverän.

Hands also have nothing to do with the ones intended for a Suverän.

I liked the one you sold here a few weeks ago more.

Agreed with the hands... Depending on the price, it could still become a nice little project, just not a Suveran one.

if i should go for it, how much would you offer? (its an auction)
i really like the green color so i might not be that important its not a suveran

No crown, needs new glass and unknown movement condition. Personally I’d pass on it, but if you want a project watch, it might be a good option. I have nowhere near the experience that most have here, but I would be in the $100-$130 range at auction. That’s just an opinionated guess. Most may call me crazy. My wife certainly does.

I got a ref. 2400-2 with cal. 30T2PC and a dial and similar caseback like the OP's watch, from 1944. It is identical to a Suverän, including the reference number - apart from the caseback. What should we call it?

There are 3 versions of casebacks for the 2400 Suverän
Thanks, Thomas!
But how should we categorize a blank ref. 2400-x caseback?

Unfortunately no outside caseback photos on the phone but it looks exactly like the OP Caseback apart from the inscription 😀

Despite the heavy patina, it may be a redial. I have seen a family photo from 1945 where the dial is white!

Maybe there is a blank version also? First time for me, maybe they have used the normal caseback from the 2383 😀

Very interesting if its indeed a 2400 with blank back and not just polished.

I'm guessing its not impossible that Omega used some casebacks from the 2400 to fit the 2383 since they share the case and that the Swedish text was applied later on in the process than the reference number.

Do you know if the 2383 caseback fits the 2400 case and vice versa @tdn-dk?
And therefore the case and caseback is exactly the same except the reference number and Swedish text on the back.

I think they used the 2383 case for the 2400, but cant say for sure.

I also think they dit that, and I have never seen a 2400 with a blank caseback. A picture would be very appreciated. And a worlds first - I think.
Ref 2383 to the left on the picture.
