Could well be a MK IV or MK V in that serial but definitely not a MK. II. Insert, as stated, is a later one but appears authentic.

Watches (especially franken watches) will linger in this market so don’t think you’re going to miss out if you don’t find/buy one right away

Well , I’m not comfortable to buy a possible franken watches by paying USD11.5 K .. I prefer the originality. I will keep looking for the right and correct piece. I appreciate your advice . 😀

Cheers

I have always been skeptical about the Mk2 5M serial watches, but they are discussed here in case anyone is interested:

The buyer needs to do his research and decide for himself what his comfort level is with the originality of this. Alex is experienced and is obviously not a believer. I'm not really comfortable with it either. I would run a search on rolexforums and see if this issue has been discussed. Here is one thread:

The insert is clearly a later blue-back, but the cost of a replacement may be priced-in if you decide that you are ok with the dial and case combo. Depends on the currency of the 11.5k, since we don't know if that's USD, Euros, or GBP.

I read the above links. good source indeed. 👍 . my doubts seems to be pretty clear now

Looks good to me, has the correct dial, bracelet and nice blue jeans faded insert. Only item of note is the GMT hand which needs further attention. Not sure if the tritium is cracked or it's a blemish on the crystal. It's also different color which makes me think it's might be re-lumed or replaced. Lastly, case has been freshly refinished as well.

If priced appropriately, I wouldn't hesitate.

Mark V indeed but as stated GMT hand may not have been born on that watch. Can you share the price?

You have many friends here that share your disease 😉. don’t rush my friend because that watch or one similar may be 12,500 in 60 days. On the other hand, a watch with a better case and provenance may be another 3-4K++

If you’re patient, you will find an untouched example for about the same or perhaps even less money.

Just wished some years ago I would of bought one when they were going for 4000-6000 during the last recession did pick up a Tudor snowflake 7021/0 for 2000 at the time and that was a lot of money at the time there was so many deals at the MWR PX at the time. Wonder with the possibility of a recession coming prices mite come down to earth again on these vintage watches we collect.
