I’m looking to buy my first DateJust. I’ve seen this one on a well known website. I’d very much appreciate comments on whether you think the dial has been repainted and the case heavily polished. Unfortunately I don’t have pictures of the movement.

Any advice appreciated.

Difficult to say regarding the dial print without seeing the watch in the flesh, however I notice a few red flags:

- The top right serif of the X in 'Rolex' appears to be smudged.
- The hands don't match the hour pips.
- The bezel fluting looks quite rounded.

All that taken into account, I don't think I'd pay the price they're asking.

I really like your DJ, but I am not an expert and I leave that to the guys on the forum. At one point I was considering a DJ or an oyster date. But when I considered the costs of servicing and the risks involved in getting an old one. I would prefer to get a new one which will come with 5 years warranty.
