Quite esoteric here, but ain't that half the fun? My understanding is that original, unmolested flat-links came with four spring links on each side. I like my clasp centered on the underside of my wrist, and to achieve that, I had to remove two links from the 6 o'clock side, while keeping the four on the 12 o'clock side. For those of you who wear a flat-link: what combination of spring links on each side has been optimal for your wearing pleasure?
IIRC its more than 8, from memory it was either 10 or 13 or something total. I actually acquired several genuinely NOS unworn 7912 bracelets a couple of years ago and not only did they each have more links than I had expected but they were TIGHT! Like tugging both ends apart I could only barely make a gap in them.
I believe there were 10 stretch links in the 1039, not sure whether that extends to other models. My wrist is large enough that the clasp adjustments will suffice
Is it possible to buy any Omega flat link bracelet that might fit a Constellation or smaller Seamaster for something like the price of a BOR? Or are the prices all inextricably linked to Speedmasters and SM300s?
