That is not the approved way to hold a steering wheel.

It's okay, I only hold the steering wheel when I'm stopped for a photo.

A friend recently sent me a video of a young couple “doing it” in a Tesla that was going at highway speed! The mind boggles!

@Scarecrow Boat was too shy to ask, but could you share the link?

From tomorrow, November 1st, in Queensland if you are caught using a mobile phone while driving (to take shots of your watch 🙄) you will receive a $1,003 fine and 4 demerit points on your licence. Even if you touch your phone that is sitting on the passenger seat, or your phone is switched off, you’re in trouble - the government have installed AI cameras to monitor and record this. Over 18,000 drivers were detected in the last 3 months being naughty, and tomorrow it becomes law.

I couldn’t find any reference to fines for shooting porn in a Tesla, but I’m sure they’ve got that covered also 😉

By doing it he means taking a wrist shot while the car is in motion.

That article gives a whole new meaning to the term ‘wrist shot’ 😉

Sorry, I dumped it! Don’t want to get interdicted from these august halls!😁

I read ‘Interdicted’ on their Police citation court case, but assumed that was a flagrant delicto descriptor ;0)

When I use to live in California if you got a ticket you can go to traffic school to keep the points off your license so you’re car insurance don’t go up. Remember a film they made us watch called red asphalt showing car accidents with the blood and gore mite be on YouTube now a good watch that mite make you think before a wrist shot while driving. Here in Montana we’re I live now they put crosses on the side of the highway we’re death happened in a car accident some crosses have three in one so many I can’t count. Mostly the deaths happened due to lack of seat belts the car rolled over them after there thrown from the car and some caused by messing with the cell phone while driving same can happen with photos of watches while driving. Any one remember that film.

Watched it in Drivers Ed class in 1971. Didn't change the way any of us drove since we were all invincible. No way any school in the Los Angeles school district would show that now. They would need a safe space, coloring books and puppies. 😁

This is a good time for a PSA. If you are in the US, and have kids, nieces, nephews, etc. who are new drivers, check out Tire Rack's Street Survival School. It is a one-day event where that combines classroom time (watered-down vehicle dynamics, etc.) with in-car exercised. The kids will learn more in that single day than we learned in 3 months worth of drivers ed classes back in the 70s/ 80s.

The Street Survival schools are typically run by car clubs, like BMWCCA, PCA, Corvette Club, etc. The instructors are usually seasoned high-performance driving instructors who are more than capable of teaching braking, steering and skid recovery skills to the young drivers.

One of my nieces went to the school two years in a row. The first year she did not take it too seriously. But over the course of the next year she realized she wanted to absorb more of the classroom info and practice the accident avoidance exercises again. She's made it to 25 without getting in a accident. 😎

There are ones for experienced drivers as well and I cant recommend them enough. When I worked for Bayer they "made" us take one and it turned out to be both really fun and valuable. Taught by ex-race drivers, you take your own car to their facility (large parking lot) and do things like bring it up to 70 MPH and slam on the brakes so you know what your vehicle will actually do if you are in that situation. High speed cornering etc, and I did it in a big ol' Chevy Silverado so really good experience without the danger. Different schools in different parts of the country (US at least) certainly worth a few hours and couple hundred bucks for the fun....and insurance discount.

Back when I was an active BMWCCA member I would see these schools held by the local chapter- not just for teens! They would put you in your car with a driving instructor on a closed course and have you push the car past it’s handling limits (wet track, cones etc). It’s thrill to explore what your car will do, it’s a shocker to discover what it won’t.

You can't control stupidity. There's a reason the Darwin Awards exist.
