They say you need to own an Alfa once in your life to truly appreciate what a drivers car is all about.

That particular car makes me want to buy one...again.
You know I loved everything about that car, and even figured its been a long time, they probably bolt them together properly now.

Then I read the Autocar long term review of the Quadrofoglio and all hope was lost. Maybe read that review if you’re still wanting a second go at an Alfa.

I would stick with the VW Combi if I was you.👍
More room for the cats.
I had the VW pick-up model about 45 years ago and loved it. A bit on the slower side but great for work when in the building trade.😁

The reliability risk with Alfa has always been very high. I was lucky with mine and in fact, it was me crashing it that ended the love affair.

On the other hand I had a G wagon that was a parts bin basket case that just loved the garage.

Mine has not run for probably 20+ years, it’s a very long term project where I first have to remove the jet engine that’s installed in it before they will allow me drive it in the roads, spoil sports.

My parents both had Alfas when I was a little kid, mum’s was a red Sud Sprint that was pretty decent (it rusted a bit but not that badly for a Sud), must have been a Monday car before the staff started drinking that day. Dad had a white Alfetta, that he used to to submerge the rear end of in salt water to launch jet skis on weekends. It rotted like a banana around the tail lights and trunk as a result, had a lot of fuel problems, and ended its life spectacularly by having the guibo fail, having the driveshaft get jammed in a pothole and ripping its own rear end out in a cloud of sparks. Luck of the draw I guess

I owned an Alfasud Ti back in the day. I loved it. For the 2 weeks after a service it just sang.

The problem about Australian purchase was that they cars were often driven on salted roads down to the docks. They then sat on a ship in the salt air. Mine then came to Sydney and sat in a beach side suburb. I think the base steel was just rubbish. I watched it disappear into a pile of Ferrous Oxide..

There were many lessons learnt.

🙁🙁

In British Columbia, Canada, that would still get you a distracted driving ticket

While going through a pile of old threads and moving them to the Seiko forum I noticed a few photos that were rather troubling, one theme that recurred several times was taking wristshots in your car when the vehicle is clearly in motion. I’ve ignored a lot of these in the past but seeing a guy driving his car at autobahn speeds on the speedo while taking a shot of his chronograph really stood out enough to make me want to say something about it.

Wristshots are cool, cars are cool, but please either get a passenger to do it for you while you keep your focus on the road or wait until the vehicle is at a stop with the park brake on. If I see more of these I’m just going to delete them as its just really bad form and likely illegal in most places, and a lot of evidence is showing that it is comparable to drunk driving in the severity of risk.

Sorry - I had to laugh when I read this. Comes across as a little self righteous. People do stupid things all the time (and even post about it on the Internet!) It shouldn't be left to forum administrators to decide what is too stupid to post and what is not.

So, the forum’s owners should not have any say over the tone and content of the forum 😕

Anything goes then? What do you think the moderators do here?

I read it as a disclaimer more then anything.
Like: smoking kills you shouldn't do it. But we still do it lol.
And at the end of the day it is the admin's call...it is their forum after all...

WHEN ADMIN WANTS TO HEAR YOU SAY SOMETHING, THEY WILL TYPE OUT WHATEVER THE F THEY WANT AND THEN STICK YOUR NAME ON IT

😜

That's literally the primary purpose a forum administrator has 😉

I’ve never understood the whole watch-plus-steering-wheel-brand wrist shot. To me, such images degrade the watch itself. Unless you’re sitting in a DeLorean DMC-12, in which case I’ll be impressed.

That is not the approved way to hold a steering wheel.
