I had a go at winding and setting most of my watches yesterday in order to measure them over 24 hours: Any guesses as to which one is the most accurate? Or perhaps I should say least inaccurate? The manual selection: Speedmaster FOIS (cal. 1861), Tissot Seastar (cal. 78-1), Omega 2792 (cal. 283), Tissot Chronograph (cal. 27 CHRO C12) and Omega Seamaster 600 (cal. 601). The automatic crowd (which I've just realised all have crosshairs!): Seamaster Calendar (cal. 503), Seamaster 2826-13 (cal. 470), Constellation 168.005 (cal. 564) and finally the Constellation 14902-62 (cal. 561). The 14902-62 is an early candidate for "worst" as it stopped ticking after 17 hours into the test Oh well, it was bought as unserviced...
That Seastar that's currently for sale will probably be the most accurate... Jokes aside, I'd hedge a bet on the Cal. 564.
I'm going to hazard a guess at the Tissot purely because I remember a previous thread you posted.....and it just came back from 'the cleaners'.
Dang. Before I read the fine print I was going to put money on the Connie-Chronometer cal. 561 Manual: Seamaster cal. 601 Auto: Constellation cal. 564
I'd like to say the 564 ( biased) But my Tissot '72 2481 keeps just as good time post service - but after all it is just an Omega 1481 in disguise
I've decided to let the watches run a bit longer (I had guests, sorry!), so I've given them a wind and will report first thing in the morning
...If I were to guess myself, I'd say either the FOIS or the 564 Constellation. Had my Seamaster Pro not been sold recently, it would have been a no-brainer!
i admit to bias for 564. my one and only connie, a c-shaped silver dial beauty, is the only one of all my safe-residing watches that springs to life immediately when gently touched...and don't even recall when she's last seen any service. that 564 is some movement!
Aaaaand the winner is... The Speedmaster FOIS with -1 over 36 hours! More than reasonably good in my book! Runner-up? Well, it's our very own Tissot Seastar (for sale locally with only -4 over the same period, which is more than acceptable, IMO Worst of all? Well, aside from the cal. 561 Constellation, which stopped prematurely, the Seamaster 2826 was +35 in the period... Both watches are unserviced. PS: The Constellation cal. 564 was +10 in the period
How is this Tissot still available for sale? Second only to the FOIS and "better" than a couple of great Omegas
