It's a 3.3M S/No. which means the Mk.IV dial is probably too late although I believe there are some 1675's in the 3.2-3.3M range that are recorded with Mk.IV dials so who knows? It may be OK but I mentioned it for clarity. The insert I am told is a later service insert (identifying inserts is my Achilles heel ). Correct or not to me it's a very honest 1675 that I love.
@obstando Are you the owner of this 1675? Re: the insert...you’d need a red back for this circa 1971 GMT.
Which is exactly why I stated that in my original post and went on to explain what was not period correct
wow dial condition looks superb, and with bracelet nonetheless. a recent pick up? would start searching for a more faded insert to complete the look (just my 2c worth!). current insert should be a blue-back one?
Thank you - not a recent pick up no - I have had it for quite a while. Insert should be red/blue. The bracelet is C+I
@Renton is saying that you're current insert is a blue back, whereas your watch left the factory with a red back insert.
I love both the patina on the dial and the faded insert. I would no really care about the non period correct insert. You have a great looking 1675. Enjoy it.
Thanks - I think the part of sharing vintage watches that I tire of is the pedants who want everything to be as it left the factory (if anyone ever really knows what actually left the factory). For those that obsess about increasing the value then yes maybe there is mileage in sourcing a part that is generally recognised as "right" for that watch but these are vintage pieces that for the most part have lived a life. That will almost certainly mean being serviced or damaged at some point in the past with some parts replaced. If the manufacturer or an agent has fitted a service part then that is part of the history of that particular watch and to my mind changing anything further down the line to enhance the "originality" of a watch is deceiving. I know that will go against the grain for many collectors but that is my view. My watches are worn - some are more original than others but they are what they are and I will continue to wear them and enjoy them without stressing that one element (that maybe only 1% of people will ever spot) is not period correct.
Great truth. I'm planing on. 1675 sometime in the near future. As long as the price is reasonable and generally no major issues it's fine.
It is a stunning watch and I don't think the service insert detracts at all (aesthetically at least) given that it has a nice fade to it. Hope it continues to bring you pleasure...Enjoy!
