Hi there. Was lucky enough to go to Switzerland last week to see the new TAG Heuer Calibre 1969 and the factory that will make it- located on the Northern Swiss border. The best thing about the new movement for me is the depth- at 6.5mm, but still with a 70 hour power reserve, it should allow TAG Heuer to use slimmer cases.

Anyway, report and photos are here for those interested: http://www.calibre11.com/tag-heuer-calibre-1969-first-look/

The best thing though, is the old school 3-6-9 subdial layout. 70 hour power reserve is more useful than it sounds too, it makes the current Daytona extremely handy as you can put it down for a weekend and wear it again on the Monday.

Yes, forgot about that! I hope that in time we'll get a 3-6 version...that's the classic Heuer layout!

Ah true, with date at six, one thing I read on Hodinkee was date at 9? Is that correct or a typo? I know some Omega's like the Calibre 930 used in Deville's and Bullhead's had that configuration but I've not seen it on much else

That's right...date is at 9 o'clock, at least one the first Carrera 1969 (it will sit inside the sub-dial...)

That's what passes for thin nowadays? Geezus, I have a box full of complete watches that are thinner than that!

How many have a 70 hour PR and a column wheel? :)

None, because they don't need either a 70 hour reserve or column wheel. :p
