Hi all, I want to share a rather recent acquisition - a 105.002. Omega extract says it's from March 1963, movement no. 19xxxxxx. Inspired by the vintage speedies of some members here, I have been on the lookout for one for some time. The 2915 and 2998s were out of reach, and I did not want something too similar to my t-dial 3570.50. Resistance was futile once I saw it - the dial with applied logo that's starting to turn brown, the alpha hands, silver rehaut, 'big' crown, smaller case size and of course the 321 movement ... I had to get it! Present bezel is not original to it though; it came with a faded telemeter bezel but I prefer the faded blue/grey that it's presently on. See through caseback is aftermarket. Bracelet is a contemporary one from Ofrei (1125 fitted with 617 endlinks); needed some adjustment as there was this infernal rattling that came from the endlinks. To hide the beautiful 321 movement behind its original caseback would be such a shame! With the rest of the family! Thanks for looking. Chye
Thats a sweet watch. Would love to have one like that.. However, the prices is rising and my salary isn't so I have a little problem. Nice collection you got going on. Love the Zenith!
Nice speedy! But mmm, my eye is inexorably drawn to that Lange 1815 chronograph in the middle - sweet watch!
Well that's a good way to get into vintage speedies! Very nice! Would you share your bit more of the serial? (even by pm, if not here) What's the story? Where did you find it? Interesting story?
Hi there, Movement no.'s 19/584'XXX and case no. is 105.002-62. Got it from Evil Bay, but it was from an active dealer that I have 'seen' before on, imo, one of the most demanding watch forum out there. So that was good enough for me ... Apparently, he got it straight from the original owner. Not much drama but getting a suitable bracelet was not easy. Imo, a vintage speedy looks best on a metal bracelet. First, there is very little literature on this model, it's production apparently only for 6 months; I even checked the late Chuck Maddox's archives but could not find the answer I was looking for. Second, while I love the old schoole stretch bracelets like the 7912 that came with the 2998s, it was difficult to find one in good condition and at a decent price. Hence the 1125 with 617 endlinks from Ofrei but it was not a perfect fit and I had to get my watch guy to resolve the endlinks rattling.
Thanks all for the kind words! Seems to me alot of interest in the ALS. Here's pic of the 321 movement of the 105.002 beside the 1815 chronograph (402.026). Both chrono movements with the ALS more intricate and refined, but the 321's a beauty in its own right! Chye
