Love it, but the Toucan (a South American bird) on the African restaurant triggers me badly lol.

From our visit to the wall and my great-grandfather's grave couple years ago. Street art was better than anywhere i have been.

That toucan is brilliant. I didn't notice the car parts until you mentioned it and i went back to the photo. Flippin amazing.

Edit: deleted an image that was offensive to some. My apologies. This made people that i respect uncomfortable and possibly worse. It was wrong of me to post it and to take advantage of their tolerance and good nature.

Quite a family tree, you have there.....( My Father was one of Generalfieldmarshall Rommel 's medical doctors in Africa ) I was born in Berlin. Lived anywhere else.... Still miss Berlin. In the unlikely event to leave Australia, I'd go back to Berlin. Was and still is amazing; quite different to other " stiff " German cities.... Kind regards. Achim

I was wondering who would catch that. There's also a Georg Lindemann who had a significant role. My grandfather was also born in Berlin and his grandfather was oberburgermeister of Dusseldorf. I waved this in the face of the embassy here in the States trying to get dual citizenship and they told me to take a hike.

My big regret is not buying a flat in East Berlin soon after the wall came down. They were going for 50k usd. I came really close because I wanted to reconnect but decided it wasn't practical. I do stupid things all the time and don't do smart things because I decide to start being practical. Idiot. Of course Berlin just keeps getting cooler and cooler simply to annoy me.

Probably not the place for this but wondering if your Dad told you much. It was hard to get them to talk. My mother was born in Braunschweig and came to New York in 45. She passed away May 29 from covid. She had few memories other than making us eat everything on our plates because we could feed a whole village off of what we left on our plates, or so she said. My brother and I spent most of our lives trying to comprehend the incomprehensible. I miss her. Soon all the living memories of that time will be gone. Ever vigilant and never forget.

my father passed away at the age of 93. worked as a doctor till the age of 78. i gave him one of these little recording micro tape thingies in 2007. requested a full account of his life for the family. and he did. so, everything is documented. my daughters listened to that a few times. i will do the same. maybe we all should . once we are gone, all memories will be lost soon. and from history we learn; from history we teach our kids to recognize another rise of ugliness in the world. because schools don`t do that anymore to that extent..... keep safe. kind regards. Achim

Thank you. You are blessed. Respect for your father and comforted that he found peace in his life and comfort in his loving family.
