    Im looking at this tropical omega cal.266.
    Cant help but wonder if this kind of patina can occur naturally or without some serious rust damage to the watch.
    Any insight or thoughts?

    It's hard to tell with that photo. Some black pigments can fade to a brown over time, or you might be seeing a decay of the lacquer coating. Got any better pictures?

    @Masterofkarate Hey Dayman,

    Feel free to send it to me for a closer inspection;)

    I dig it, but in all seriousness would need more pictures to tell.

    Its for sale at my local auction house(for a fairly steep price for this model). They only have these two pictures to show

    Id want to see how badly flaked the dial is...That would determine dream vs nightmare.

    Well, those photos are badly under-exposed. I'll let others decide whether or not it was an innocent mistake. Note that I all I did was to increase the exposure level.

    I have to ask you why you're stating this? Do you think you are the only one who is following the auction house?

    FWIW, I have bought a watch from the same seller (the actual person who brought this to the auction house) and while watch was serviced, it wasn't exactly regulated and the amplitude was low. Draw your own conclusions.

    Also, at this time the bidding has already reached a level where I would caution that you walk away. >$900 for this? No way.

    Hey, I stated it as reply to the dial. Since there where two pictures(close up) of the dial. Thought that was what we where discussing. And no I don`t think im the only one following the auctionhouse, since someone already bid on the watch and quite certain it wasn't me

    ...You don't think that the other pictures of the watch would be helpful in figuring out whether or not the watch had suffered any rust damage?

    I have no idea :D

    But the pictures of movement and inner case are pretty crucial and in this case I don't see anything wrong.
