    Good evening to everyone
My name is Stefano and I live in Italy. I've been passionate about watches since I was a child and lately I've been interested in vintage Omega.
A few days ago I found this strange Seamaster on eBay, and frankly I like it enough! What do you think? Is it authentic or another Frankenwatch?
thank you all and congratulations for your expertise and availability!

    Thank you for answer
The case seems to be of a cosmic Seamaster but, apart from the lack of the writing on the dial, I have not found other similar models on the web

    Hi,
Yes that is indeed a Cosmic case. I think there was a lot of dial variation around this time. Perhaps as this is a day/date. I don't know if there were many day/date Cosmics produced.Obviously not a cal 565 movement in there. It could of course be a movement fitted in the wrong case (which is in great condition with nice sunburst lapping). But I don't think so but can't say why. . Hands seem to be correct too... I have a 1970 Omega Chrnonostop that doesn't say Chronostop on it. ..others may know more..

Hi! Thanks a lot for the answer!
I just found on the internet this model that would seem similar to the one on eBay auction ... It would seem to encase a cal. 751. Am I wrong or is it a caliber with chronometer adjustment? 417B7C87-1FFB-42D7-83DD-97051412967F.jpeg 29F8DC75-F650-44D1-994B-F2B76D510651.jpeg F5FBF90F-A97F-486C-A454-217134516C1A.jpeg A77B7D61-665F-419A-ADE2-57CBBF978378.jpeg

I have never seen a SM Cosmic that didn't say COSMIC on the dial.

    Reference 166.036 should have either a cal 750 or 752 not a 751.

I think the watch has been put together from several different ones, perhaps three.

Looking closely I think the two watches may actually be the same one.

continuing in my research I found another watch, very similar to the first, recently sold by an online site for about 600 euros.

What happened to the metal surrounding the day/date window?

That's a redial so you can't use it for data.

It's not a style I think much about at all. No offense, but not many experienced collectors would waste the effort on these.

Thanks a lot for your answers
Really I'm only interested in knowing if the watch is original or not by competent and available people, if possibile, without asking for any particular effort...

    Good evening
A few days ago I took the watch from my watchmaker, certified Omega repairer. Today, as I requested, he sent me the photo of the caliber which is a 751, just like the other watch found on the web, with a serial from 1969. At this point I believe that there are at least three watches in the world with the same, strange , features.

Have you seen the price of Cosmics lately? . Agreed they have been a bit overlooked, but I think Amatuer and collectors are looking in this direction , especially the dive models .

The reason may be due to service dial or replacement dial, or even repainted dials.

Based on what I've seen, I would lean to Ockham's Razor for the answer.

Thank you so much for the answers.
Actually I was convinced I had found another "Frankenwatch" ... And it probably is. However, it is truly remarkable that three clocks in different parts of the world still have the same dial and movement, not corresponding to the reference ...

All three are franken IMO, and they look like shit if you ask me. Unbelievable someone paid 600€ for the first one, I would not pay 200€ if I needed a spare movement and hands.
