In summary: 2023 prices at a rise, in part to pay influencers and all the great comments & "reviews" at a plethora of watch-websites
in other words... the blurring of advertising and journalism ( good " reviews " ) has always been a common occurrence, but more so today !

Phil, please don't state that as some kind of fact, because it isn't (several brands are spending less this year on advertising anyway btw.). The price increases are probably based on the fact that the demand and sales were so good for a large part of 2022, they think they can just pull this off. Aside: the price of a watch has little to do with the cost of a watch, keep that in mind. The 'luxury needs to be expensive' component is more visible today than ever. Sure, their costs went up (just like yours and mine), but the prices of watches have nothing to do with that. Margins are high on watches (50% -VAT is the retail margin for most brands out there), and the brand also will make a profit over that first 50% of the price tag you pay, of course.

Can confirm, ad spend is way down this year on last year for the same time period, marketing budgets tend to be the first port of call for cost cutting.

Funny how the world is suffering a inflation problem and a opinion is watch prices going up is to pay influencers 🤦

I’m pretty sure the local zucchini and asparagus growers aren’t paying influencers and there is 8-12% just there.

All luxury watches have gone up this time of the year every year for the last 10 years.
( My 2013 $4k AUD speedmaster is a few hundred $$s off $10K AUD nowadays. )

Never underestimate their power and reach. I never ate brussel sprouts or durian fruit until I started following some IG influencers.
