Today was a good day. The rarest watch that I'll likely ever own was delivered to my door. For those who aren't intimately familiar with the Heuer Carrera, the 2447 (Valjoux 72, three register) is the most highly sought after reference from the range. Of the 2447's, the SN (panda dial, seen here) is considered the "holy grail" by many Heuer lovers. However, some don't realize that there are two other 60's Carrera variants that far surpass the 2447SN in terms of rarity: One is the "Skipperera," (the earliest Heuer Skipper - yacht timer - that was housed in the Carrera case). There are roughly 10 of these known to exist in the hands of current collectors, but likely a handful more in the collections of non-WIS owners. Then, there is the 2447NT (black dial, tachy scale). Prior to finding mine, I believe there were only three known examples in the entire world - one of which is now in the Tag Heuer Museum! Which means that this one is now only the third known example in private hands. This one comes from the son of the original owner and is in fantastic condition. It hasn't been serviced in decades and will need to be sent off post haste to remove a few pieces of dust from under the crystal and give the movement a cleaning, but otherwise it's nearly a time capsule. Feel incredible blessed to be the next owner of this one for decades to come. I'll have better pictures and a nice update after it's back from servicing, but had to take a few when it arrived earlier. Cheers, CF
It would take quite a bit to ever let it go...not like I'll ever find another. But your dibs are duly noted, per the bylaws of dibs.
dear god, how do you keep doing this??? Exceptional ref. after exceptional ref. from original owners, are you lurking funeral homes are what?!
Haha no, I haven't sunk that far yet. No two stories are alike but they're all from hours spent searching high and low on the web. Any more than that, however, and I'd have to kill you
Sweeeeeet! That dial is amazing. Super congratulations, and testimony to the fact that good things come to those willing to devote time and energy to searching for ''the one"!
Ha, thanks Martin! Unfortunately there's no money tree...I'll be letting go of two (possibly three) cherished pieces soon in order to re-gain a sense of balance.
