One year ago today I didn't have a very good day...MI, clot busting meds, panicked paramedics and nurse in the ambulance, then a few stents installed... The past year has been full of challenges, but I feel better today than I have in years for several reasons. Thanks to everyone who has been so patient. Last night my wife and I went out for a dinner to celebrate...not often I eat like this anymore...lovely filet, garlic mashed, some green beans, and the demi glace was very nice (if a little on the stingy side): Today we will run a few errands around town, play some tennis later, and I will just relax and enjoy being here still. Cheers, Al
Always interesting to note that those who recover from close calls and/or serious illnesses subsequently drink up life in a very positive manner. Hopefully you will enjoy many more such anniversaries. Cheers, Tony C.
Enjoy one day at a time, the good people in my job have taught me this literally. Congratulations on your improving health Mr Archer.
Cheers to your health Al! Your event or at least your first post (notifying the group) about the event occurred right around the time I joined OF. So glad I have had a chance to get to "know" you through this forum! To many more years..........
Glad you're still with us Al. Putting up with a forum full of p.i.t.a. members like us after your scare really shows how much character you have.
What a remarkable recovery you've made in the last year, Al. You are an example of how strength can be gained by living up to great challenge. Congratulations on your amazing year!
Congratulations Al, very glad you're still here! And a big thanks for all your contributions here. Cheers, Ed
It's equally amazing as fascinating how fast ones perspectives can change after a traumatic event. I have heard several such stories, when people have been given another chance and how that changes them. How things that used to be dead serious important in a flash aren't that at all anymore, and the other way around for things that earlier wasn't important at all. Congrats Al to your second life!
Congratulations on your one year anniversary! I have just had some scary experiences myself involving anafylactic shock and some time spent on ER. Sure makes you think things over.
Reminds me of something Stephen King said. He had been hit by a van while standing on the side of the road and almost died. After recovery he was speaking at a college: "I'm happy to be here at XYZ College tonight. In fact, I'm happy to be anywhere." Live it up.......
Congratulations, such events make one appreciative of life. 9 years ago I fell 60 ft off a mountain in a paragliding accident when the parachute collapsed. I got away with a crushed disc in my spine. The doctor said I was 2 mm from being paralyzed. I am not fond of mountain tops anymore but I certainly appreciate life a lot more.
